Better layout on detail page
« on: April 02, 2012, 01:08:02 PM »
At first I need to say this is a great app.

I'm a former C:Geo opensource user who used the maps function a lot.
Since there's is broken I was looking for a substitute for C:Geo and found Neongeo and absolutely love it.

The only disadvantage I have with Neongeo are the Cache Detail Pages.
When using caches with long descriptions you need to scroll way down to get to the logs and waypoint info.
I would like to see the use of tabs or something similar.
For example:
- A tab with geocache info like name, rating, start point, icons, spoiler images, tb's inside cache, hint
- Another tab with the complete discription of the cache
- Another tab with it's waypoints
- Last tab with logs

For example the tabs could be used with android design guidelines.

Edit:
For example you could open the following cache to see how annoying it can be to scroll down to the waypoints section.
Cache: GC1PZH0

As I have thought about this, a tabbed interface for the cache page may be a good idea...  tabs for description, logs, waypoints...  The trimble navigator app for Blackberries actually incorporates navigation features into the tabbed interface, so that when you open a cache detail page there are tabs for the radar and compass as well.

Once uppon a time before Android entered my world and before Trimble became impossbile to use outside US (paying the app was not possible from Europe), I used Trimble too. I liked the tab concept.

From Trimble I jumped to GC live, and so on..

Yes, a tab-like UI, following the new ICS guidelines, would be great, so you could open to the main info tab and then swipe left/right to get to the logs, additional waypoints, etc...

Does anybody know if Neongeo responds to Feature Requests. I would like to hear his vision to the detail page layout.

Yes, but remember, the developer is one guy doing this in his spare time.

Sometime he does, but I think he is a busy man :)

Sometimes you can read about upcoming version here:

That would be nice...
I like the way c:geo is presenting the Info/Log/Desc/Extra POI is very nice.
